This pair of US Naval Bigeye binoculars were salvaged from the USS Shangri-La, An American Aircraft carrier, which served in the South Pacific during World War II. 1944 They were manufactured by Kollmorgen Optical of Northampton, Massachusetts. Kollmorgen has been making optics for the US Navy since 1916, when they were asked to design, build and install the first workable periscope aboard the first U.S. submarine. Aboard ship these would have been mounted on a railing just off the bridge. This pair is now mounted on a custom mount designed to make this a piece of functional artwork to be enjoyed for generations to come. 20 X Power by 120 mm lenses.
